Turrentine Seen and Heard in Washington….the State, not D.C.

The Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers (WAWGG) invited Turrentine Brokerage to speak on Global Grape Supply at their Grower Caucus Meeting, December 9, 2014 in Grandview, Washington.

Erica Moyer, Broker and Partner, presented information concerning the global grape production of the Old World and New World and the impact to our domestic market. As the Old World production declines, New World production is increasing, mostly in the United States and particularly in California. With increasing domestic supply, imported bulk wine is declining. As Washington grape production continues to grow, it is important for producers to keep eye on growing regions in Washington and California. Washington is currently in the sweet spot of a growing segment, the $10-20 bottle price point. Washington is gaining interest for reds grown in regions such as Horse Heaven and Red Hills, which is why California wineries such as E & J Gallo and Duckhorn are in Washington.

While in the Tri Cities area, Erica took the opportunity to meet with Turrentine Clients in the Paterson-Prosser region, along with Crop Consultants in the Tri Cities and the Yakima Valley, to learn more about the wine grape growing conditions, water and land availability and the appellations within Washington.

“It was a great trip. I have a great appreciation for what they are doing in Washington with their wines. There is a tremendous opportunity for growth.” – Erica Moyer
