Turrentine Brokerage announced today that Daniel Tugaw has joined the company as Market Researcher and Analyst. Daniel is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder with a degree in Business Management. He grew up in Los Altos and attended Sonoma State for his first two years of college before transferring to finish at Boulder. While in Boulder, Daniel worked at a financial consulting corporation as well as RealD, where he managed inventory for the 3D technology company. He recently moved back to Northern California in order to pursue a career in the wine industry. Although he is new to the industry, he possesses a strong passion to learn and brings with him an impressive foundation of analytical experience.

The Final Grape Crush Report released March 10th, shows no significant changes from the Preliminary Report. The total crop of winegrapes harvested statewide in 2010 was 3.58 million tons, down only 3% from 2009, making 2010 the third largest crop in California history. There were dramatically different results in different regions of the state, with the North Coast down 5%, the Central Coast up 5%, the Northern Interior down 22% and the Southern Interior up 5%. We’re going to look at the results from the Interior Regions of the state more closely below and discuss the changing market for Chardonnay.
